一、含义不同
look like
看起来像……(问外貌)

be like
像……，相像(问性格)

二、用法不同
be like
问话时，询问某人的外表、品行或某物的情况，在陈述句中表示说话人的判断。
What is he like?
He is just like everybody else.
他是个什么样的人？
他和别人完全一样。
look like
问话时，询问答话者认为某人或某物像什么，在陈述句中表示说话人认为他或它像什么。
What does she look like?
She looks like a professor.
她看起来像是什么样的人？
她看起来像是个教授。
三、侧重点不同
be like
使用范围更大，即可询问性格，又可询问外貌，可表示各方面的相似。
My father was one of a kind—I'll never be like him.
我的父亲很独特—我决不会像他的。
We want this to be like a home, not an institution.
我们希望这里像个家，而不像收容所。
look like
look like侧重于询问外貌，外表。
They look like the teeth of some fierce animal.
它们看上去像是某种猛兽的牙齿。
